When is the right time for your child’s first piece of dimond jewellery?
by Michelle ~ August 15th, 2008. Filed under: General. It is a common fact that children want to emulate their parents. No matter how much they may reject this idea, subconsciously they all want to be like their parents.
This even expands to adult life where some of the qualities and interests which their parents have passed down to them are carried on and if we really thought about it, I am sure that we can all think of numerous characteristics which are similar to those displayed by our mother and father.
As a result, girls in particular cannot wait to emulate their mothers and this often takes the form of wearing jewellery to make her feel a little more grown up. We have already provided some advice in terms of how you can ease your daughter into the world of diamond jewellery, but how do you know when the right time is to invest in that special diamond necklace for her?
We cannot give a definitive answer to this as each child is different, some mature much quicker than others whilst some are more mischievous and therefore clumsy with their possessions.
You have to consider when the child is mature enough to truly value and respect the item before you make the investment. This could make a special event or birthday and we would advise that you buy a fairly standard piece as their first diamond necklace rather than a particularly expensive one.
You need to weigh up all the factors, although the degree to which the item would be looked after should be of paramount importance.
