What to do in the event of proposal hiccups

Recently we provided some useful information on proposing in public and more specifically, if you plan to pop that all important question at a local restaurant.

We stressed the importance of this being your night and your night only – but what happens if things should go a little wrong.

One or two little problems might arise – perhaps you forget the engagement ring, although this is highly unlikely, or what if someone else proposes to their partner just before you were planning the exact same thing?

In this situation then you obviously have two options. The first is to go along with the proposal and try to block out the images of the other couple and focus on your own situation. This may not have the best effect on your partner however, especially if you try and out-do the proposal which has just occurred.

The other option is to postpone the proposal, even if this just means for a few hours. It could be that the other couple leave the venue or that you move on to another location on your night out where you feel the time is right.

Under no circumstances try and compete with the other couple as this will dilute the sincerity of your actions, and the experience for your partner also.  No matter what happens, remember, the proposal is about the two of you and if you love each other, nothing else will matter.
