Think carefully about the wording of your engraving
by Rob ~ August 19th, 2008. Filed under: General. Here at Diamond Compare, we have recently documented the fact that engraving your piece of diamond jewellery is something which you should think about very carefully.
We suggested that if you are in any doubt whether or not you should have your eternity ring engraved for example, that you should leave this until a later date when your mind is made up. Essentially you need to be sure due to the fact that once the piece is engraved, this cannot be reversed.
The next stage following your decision to have your itrem engraved is the actual wording of this. Ideally this should be something memorable and something which is timeless. It is therefore not a particularly good idea to engrave the ring with anything frivolous such as lines out of films or lyrics from your favourite song at the time.
Diamonds are designed to be timeless and therefore by engraving the piece with something which ultimately will become out dated in a fairly short time you may dilute the symbolism of the ring. Generic phrases such as “forever” or “I love you” are much more suitable to have engraved on your special item, however, the choice really should be your own and one which you are happy with.
