How to Sell a Diamond

In the current economy, you may be considering selling some of your diamonds in order to ease your cash flow. Or maybe you want to sell your wedding or engagement rings after a break up or divorce. Or maybe you have simply fallen out of love with your diamond. Whatever the reason, you should not make any hasty decisions and should take your time when considering selling your precious stone.

The first thing you should do is get your diamond valued. You should always pay a professional to do this as there are some unscrupulous people around who will try to con you and paying an expert will mean you can get the best possible value for your diamond. You should always ask the person valuing your diamond for a detailed list of wholesale and retail prices so you can make a decision about the best way to proceed in your circumstances.

Once you have discovered your diamond’s value, you should think about finding a buyer for your diamond. The easiest option is to sell your diamond to a jewellery store. However, they will only want to pay the wholesale price, so you may have to haggle to get a good deal from them. The other option is to advertise your diamond in a variety of publications. Potential buyers will then contact you with offers. If all else fails, you could try a pawn shop, but this would probably not get you the best deal.
