One of the most common problems which men face in secretly investing in a ring for their partner is determining what ring size they are. Rings, of course, are not like clothes where the label inside it will state the size of the item – if only it was that simple.

One idea is to locate the documentation which came with any rings which your partner wears already. There are many ways of doing this, the best way is to think of a reason for her to show you the paperwork herself without you searching through personal documents however.

The second idea is to take a ring which your partner wears regularly to a jeweller one day when she is not wearing it. They will be able to size the ring for you and give you the definitive size which you require. The most important factor here however, is returning the ring to it’s storage place before your partner notices that it is gone!

Finally, ask one of her close friends if they will request borrowing one of her rings – for a special event for example. This way, either you or the friend can have the ring sized and returned safely to her.

One thing which we would not advise however is asking her ring size outright should you want the engagement ring, wedding ring, or eternity ring to be a surprise. This will elicit suspicion which may spell the end of the surprise!
