Be prepared for people to try and dilute your excitement

When you become engaged, you will experience many emotions, but most of all you will feel excitement. You will be wanting to show off the ring to anyone and everyone and will expect them to be as excited as you are about the commitment which you have made.

The problem is of course, that the more people which you show, the more likely it is that some people will not show that same excitement which you hold. This is particularly the case if you decide to break the news to people who may not know you particularly well – in a work environment perhaps.

What you have to remember is that no matter how excited that you may come across, or how brightly the engagement ring sparkles, some people will not really get that excited about your news. There is wide variety of reasons for this, the vast majority of them not actually involving yourself. Maybe they are having troubles in their own marriage, or are jealous because you are getting married and they have not done as yet.

If you encounter this then although it is hard then do not take this as a personal insult and move on from it. The people who matter most to you will share your excitement and make you feel incredibly special.
